Clematis Barbara Jackman is a large flowering variety that produces an abundance of lilac-blue flowers with deep violet stripes at the centre of each petal and creamy white anthers. A very popular choice, reaching average heights of 2.5m and spread of 100cm it's a smaller climbing clematis that can be grown in containers and is suitable for planting against a sunny wall, fence or trellis. 30cm plants supplied in a 11cm pot.

- Soil Type Humus rich, fertile and well drained soil.
- Pruning Prune in late winter to remove damaged/dead growth, approx 30-40cm from the ground. Cut back to healthy new buds.
Clematis are vigorous climbing plants that reach various heights and spreads. Its best to prune back to keep control over the growth annually and initially they should be tied in to help direct the new growth. Apply a liquid fertiliser each yearduring the growing season, and water regularly during hot periods.Clematis can be planted October-May in areas with good drainage and plenty of sun is preferable. Soak in a bucket of water prior to planting and plant deep enough to allow plenty of room for root development. The roots of clematis like to be keptcool so it is a good idea to plant amongst low growing shrubs or bedding plants. If planting in containers, ensure the pot is large enough to allow the roots to expand/develop, as limitation of roots will certainly impede future success.
