Tulip praestans 'Fusilier' is an exceptional variety. Each upright stem bears four to six showy fragrant blooms in a brilliant scarlet red shade. Broad leaves provide a perfect grey-green backdrop that makes the red pop. Fusilier is ideal for classictulip enthusiasts, lovers of the colour red, or anyone who is looking to bring a burst of spring colour to their pots and borders. Flowering from March, this bloom grows to an average 30cm tall.

- Pruning Remove faded flowers, leave the stem and foliage until they have turned yellow/brown.
Tulip bulbs should be planted in autumn, before any frost. Find an area of soil that is well-drained and moist and plant your bulbs at twice their depth and spaced apart by 10-15cm. Ensure they are properly covered, you should not be able to see them on the surface of the soil. Position in an area that you know receives plenty of sunlight but is also sheltered from harsh winds. Deadhead the flowers once they wilt, encouraging a healthier plant.
