Compact in habit, Malus domestica Golden Yellospur is a golden variety of the spur apple tree that will produce an impressive harvest of fully-sized, sweetly flavoured fruits, similar in characteristics to those of the 'Golden Delicious' family. Bred in the chilly climates of East Holland, the Golden Spur is frost hardy and has a column, upright habit making it the perfect feature plant for gardens or patios with limited space. This superb specimen is also self-fertile meaning that it can produce fruits all by itself, making it the perfect choice experienced and amateur gardeners alike.

Young trees must be watered thoroughly and sprinkled with fertilizer each spring. You can mulch the soil in April with rotted manure or compost around the base of the trunk. They should be planted in well-sheltered locations. Apple trees are suitable for planting in most types of moderately fertile, well drained soil, although they do not like acid soil. If possible prepare the ground some time in advance of planting. Open out holes and plant with enough space to accommodate the roots without cramping them. Plant in a sunny location if possible. Begin weed control prior to planting and keep a clean ring around the plant (with a radius of approx 24 inches).
