Clematis 'Crystal Fountain' is a striking, free-flowering deciduous climber with large violet-blue blooms featuring a distinctive silvery-mauve, fountain-like centre. Flowers appear in late spring to early summer, with a second flush in late summer to early autumn. Reaching around 1.8m tall with a spread of up to 1.8m, this Clematis thrives in humus rich, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade, with roots kept cool and shaded, and is reliably hardy in UK conditions. Ideal for borders, containers, and growing against walls, fences or obelisks in small gardens.

- Pruning Prune in late winter to remove damaged/dead growth, approx 30-40cm from the ground. Cut back to healthy new buds.
Clematis are vigorous climbing plants that reach various heights and spreads. Its best to prune back to keep control over the growth annually and initially they should be tied in to help direct the new growth. Apply a liquid fertiliser each yearduring the growing season, and water regularly during hot periods.Clematis can be planted October-May in areas with good drainage and plenty of sun is preferable. Soak in a bucket of water prior to planting and plant deep enough to allow plenty of room for root development. The roots of clematis like to be keptcool so it is a good idea to plant amongst low growing shrubs or bedding plants. If planting in containers, ensure the pot is large enough to allow the roots to expand/develop, as limitation of roots will certainly impede future success.
