Pumpkin Jack OÂ’lantern is a perfect pumpkin for decorating, carving, and eating. Its the epitome of autumn, and can grow up to 20-30cm in diameter and 5-7kg! A perfect choice for a large spot in the allotment, as they can grow quite large. An essential addition to your autumn harvest.

Grow seeds in a sunny spot that's protected from strong winds. Ensure soil is well drained and rich in humus - the more the better. Many winter squash and pumpkin varieties like to sprawl out and need plenty of space. Vining squash and pumpkins need a large area to run, while semi-vining and bush varieties of winter squash and courgettes can be grown in a specific spot, or in a container. Place a single seed edgeways 2cm deep in seed compost in a 3cm pot. For germination to occur, these seeds must be kept warm, so a propagator or a well-heated greenhouse is preferred. Keep soil weed-free to allow air circulation.
