A striking twist on the traditional Hybrid Tea Rose shape, Rose Lover's Meeting produces classically shaped blooms with uniquely pointed outer petals of exotic Indian Orange, appearing between June and early September. Standing atop sturdy green stems that reach a mature height of one metre, the glossy bronze-green foliage contrasts well against the large vivid blooms. Roses should be planted firmly, to ensure that wind will not disrupt the roots. Apply a balanced fertiliser every 3-4 weeks in the spring/summer, and apply a mulch in the winter for protection. Can be pruned back to remove any dead wood or growth. It is best to plant roses in winter or early spring, provided there is little frost. To prepare your bare rose roots, soak them in a bucket of water for an hour to 24 hours (longer in spring). Then, dig a hole large enough to house the roots when fully outspread. Distribute the roots evenly around the hole and put in a little bit of fine soil to which has been added a small amount of bonemeal. Fill in with the rest of the soil over the roots and tread in firmly. The depth of planting roses will vary between 10-20cm, or as deep as they were in their pots.
